In 2007, we (The U.S.) generated 3.01 million tons of e-waste in our country alone. Of this amount, only 410,000 tons or 13.6% was recycled, according to the EPA. The rest was trashed – in landfills or incinerators.
Selected consumer electronics include products such as TVs, VCRs, DVD players, video cameras, stereo systems, telephones, and computer equipment.
These items mentioned contain toxic chemicals and fill up our landfills with unnecessary waste. This in turn harms our environment and wildlife in Douglas County and the surrounding areas.
What Can I Do?
"Worldwide PC shipments are projected to total 366.1 million units in 2010, a 19.7 percent increase from 305.8 million units shipped in 2009, according to the latest preliminary forecast by Gartner, Inc. Worldwide PC spending is forecasted to reach $245 billion in 2010, up 12.2 percent from 2009."
We can help reduce the number of PC's and other electronic devices that reach our landfills by using the resources provided. Take your unwanted electronic items (new, used, or broken) to us to recycle properly.
Let's keep our waters clean by keeping electronics from being disposed of improperly.
Our Mission
At Going Green Recycling, our purpose is to keep our planet green by the reuse, renewal, and recycling of everyday electronic items – from a common hair dryer to a television or computer. If it can be fixed and reused we sell it here or online. Not only are we a source for refurbished computers, we are also the largest e-recycling partnership in Douglas County.
We strive to be a role model for Douglas County and our country. We believe sustainability is the capacity to endure for a better world of tomorrow. Here at Going Green, we will do just that.
